It's Never Dark When You Know...

We live just outside of town and when it storms, we frequently lose our electricity temporarily. When it happens at night we are surrounded by just pitch blackness because of our location. Whenever we get a storm at night with lots of thunder and lightening, I can't sleep. I will lie awake just waiting for the storm to pass. Often it seems, this is when the storm will knock out the power for  few minutes.

Our son as I've mentioned is completely non-verbal. He also can't get up and walk on his own either. So if he gets scared by the storm or the darkness he really has no way to tell us. He can't tell us what he is feeling or if he is afraid. And he can't leave his bed to find us either.

So I go into his room whenever this happens. I can't really see him, so I begin to speak to him, telling him what is going on. And I stretch out my arm over his bed and I put my hand where he can reach it.

Out of the darkness I will feel his little hand reach up and hold tightly onto mine. So we just sit there in the silence, and he holds onto my hand.

It's never too dark, and the storm is never too great, if you know where your father is.

Life is just like that too you know. When you walk through the heavy stuff, when the storms you're facing threaten to overwhelm you, when your life ia so dark you can't move--reach out to the Father and take His hand.

Because it's never too dark, and the storm is never too great, if you know where your Father is.

Cling to Him, hold on to Him, and let Him speak to you.

Because it's never too dark, and the storm is never too great, if you know where your Father is.
